Silent Light

This post was written for Josie's Writing Workshop over at Sleep is for the Weak. This week I chose Prompt 3: Write a story or a poem or something descriptive to try and share your view of what happens when we die. Perhaps you could write it as a way of explaining a hard concept to your children? Or just to express your own feeling about the Big Question

Silent Light

I see the light
And the door
And an overwhelming feeling
That I've been here before

On the day I was born

Safe and still
I squeezed through the door
Pushed into the light
And the noise -
So much noise

That never went away
Inside my head,
Asking questions
Searching
For what?

For this.
Drawn towards the light
And the door
I know what's in store.

The warm, womb-like safety of home,
Silent light.

What a beautiful poem. I love the way you compare the end, with the beginning (of life that is). It actually makes me feel quite warm and glowy - there's nothing to be afraid of.
